Our Corporate Volunteer Program engages partner companies in and around Boston for days of impactful service on Cathleen Stone Island. All projects help to protect the safety and beauty of our 204-acre island classroom where our students explore, learn, and build critical life skills. Our volunteers are essential to the stewardship of our island and the well being of our students and programs.
Volunteer days begin with a scenic ferry ride through the Boston Harbor, followed by your service project, lunch, and a guided walking tour of Cathleen Stone Island. Typical volunteer projects include trail and beach cleanup, facility and event venue maintenance, and stewardship of important historical and program sites across the island. Volunteers are led by a Cathleen Stone Island staff member for project guidance, and to provide further context and insight to the work and mission of Cathleen Stone Island Outward Bound.
Getting ready for your volunteer day on Cathleen Stone Island? Reach out to Jackson Donahue at [email protected] with any questions, and check out our Volunteer Information Page to prepare for your day of service, team-building, and adventure!
Our Corporate Volunteer Program is a stewardship opportunity available to corporate partners who support Cathleen Stone Island Outward Bound and our students. Interested companies may either provide a direct contribution to the Corporate Volunteer Program (details below) or receive a volunteer day through a sponsorship of one of our signature annual fundraising events (4K Trail Run or Evening Expedition Gala).

Our 2025 season is over. Booking for 2026 will begin in January. Email Jackson Donahue at [email protected] to receive information about the 2026 season when it becomes available. The volunteer program sells out every year, so reach out early!

“I’ve volunteered through the Cathleen Stone Island Outward Bound Corporate Volunteer Program at least seven times. I see volunteering as a way for me to give back to community, and as a way for me to get to know our community. Our company Service Day (on Cathleen Stone Island) has allowed me to meet associates from different parts of my organization that I do not normally work with it, and connect with them on a different level doing something outside of the traditional 8-hour workday!”
